This has involved facilitating families to see their loved ones in the peak of lockdown and creating special memories for families to cherish.
To make those special memories happen, we have been making the most of our new family room extension, which was made possible thanks your generous donations.
Joanne Nichol, Sister on the Adult Inpatient Unit, is leading a project to make sure families get the best use possible out of the family room and explains more about how the room has been a vital space for families during these extraordinary times.
Joanne said:
“The family room is a space for families to spend quality time together outside of a patient’s bedroom or to take some needed time out. It has been brilliant to have the family room under current circumstances and we couldn’t have had many of the special events we have held without it. Just some of the events we’ve held in the room have included a patient wedding, afternoon tea, pizza evenings, a visit from Animal Antics, and more. The room has also been an essential space for people to escape to and relax when times have been difficult.
“Throughout these uncertain times, the nurses at the Hospice have really kept the Inpatient Unit running and I believe the most incredible work happens through these doors.”
