Bereavement Support
We offer Bereavement Support to adults and children after the death of a loved one.
Our bereavement care is delivered by specially trained support workers and volunteers to those whose loved one received care from the Hospice.
We aim to help those left behind cope and adapt to their loss.
We can provide:
• Individual 1:1 support at the Hospice or over the phone
• Group sessions to meet and share with others who are in a similar situation
• A annual programme of remembrance services and events
If you are struggling with grief, please contact the Bereavement Support Team on 0191 285 0063.
Meet Vikki
Vikki’s husband, Bob, was cared for on the Adult Inpatient Unit. With an 8-week-old baby and two children under 5, Vikki needed practical and emotional support, which she found through our Social Workers and Bereavement team.

- Cruse – Supporting you after the death of someone close.
- Compassionate Friends – Supporting families after a child dies.
- Child Bereavement UK – Charity with information for young people who’ve been bereaved.
- Holding Hearts – Supporting children and families through Play and Creative Arts therapy
Through our Bereavement support for Employers, we help individuals, communities and workplaces feel more confident having these important conversations, so people feel more supported in grief and can plan better in life.
All our training is led by our Bereavement Team, who are specialists in supporting people following the death of a loved one, friend or colleague.
