The morning of Thursday 29th February started in style for those attending our latest breakfast networking event – although it was lucky our guests had a head for heights!
The stunning ABOVE Rooftop Bar and Lounge, at the top of Newcastle’s Vermont Hotel was the venue for another morning get-together with around 50 friends and supporters from businesses from across the region in attendance, alongside members of our own hospice team. The theme of event was ‘making the most of the time we have’, and with the event falling on a 29th February it seemed like the perfect subject matter to celebrate our extra day in 2024.
Guests enjoyed a breakfast of pastries and fruit and over tea and coffee, they were welcomed by Sonia Graham, St Oswald’s Hospice Corporate Fundraising Manager. We then heard from our Social Worker Marisa Woodward and Auxiliary Nurse Nicola Wealleans, who shared some of the special ways that the hospice teams ensure that every moment counts for our patients and their families.
This was rounded off by Corporate Fundraiser Sophie Hindhaugh, who ran through some upcoming ways businesses and their staff could get involved with St Oswald’s Hospice campaigns and events, including a Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge (details coming soon, watch this space!), joining our Great North Run 2024 team and becoming a member of our Better Together Business Club, which aims to fund the kind of work Marisa and Nicola described.
Thank you to the team from ABOVE and The Gainford Group for hosting us in their beautiful venue.
