Fish, chips and a big smile for Chris

Over the last couple of weeks, Chris has been receiving daily treatment at our Lymphoedema Service, becoming a much-loved face.

He quickly built a lovely connection with the Lymphoedema team, sharing stories, having a laugh and often chatting about how much he was missing his favourite treat – fish and chips – which he hadn’t had at home in a while.

As  Chris came to the end of his treatment, our Lymphoedema team decided to do something special. With help from our brilliant Catering and Transport colleagues, he was brought in a little earlier than usual for his appointment and surprised with a plate of proper fish and chips, made fresh by our kitchen.

His daughter, Janice, later told us:

“My Dad loves to go to St Oswald’s Hospice and always loves to chat and have a laugh with the ladies who treat him. He thoroughly enjoyed his fish and chips. Thank you so much for doing this for him – he was over the moon.”

We’d like to say a huge thank you to all the staff and volunteers who care for our Lymphoedema patients, and to our Catering and Transport teams who helped make this special moment happen for  Chris.
