Based at Cobalt Business Park, the office became a hive of fundraising activities for all staff to get involved in as part of the company’s support for their chosen Charity of the Year, St Oswald’s Hospice.
Activities included a bake off challenge, a virtual quiz and, the most popular event, ‘pie the leader’. Attracting a large staff audience, this event saw Accenture’s senior leaders being pie’d plus event organisers, Dave Scott and Tony Peirs.
As well as the group events, Dave Scott, Digital Delivery Engagement Manager at Accenture, also took on his own challenge in the form of a work-based sponsored silence.
Speaking about his sponsored silence, Dave said, “I’m usually quite talkative so it really was a challenge for me to keep quiet during work hours. I did carry around a whiteboard and pen so that I could write a message if needed, but I did manage to successfully remain silent for the week.”
As part of our commitment to our Charity of the Year partners, two nursing staff from St Oswald’s Hospice held a short information session for Accenture staff.
Nicola Wealleans, Auxiliary Nurse, and Sarah Hall, Junior Sister, who both work on the Adult In-patient Unit (AIPU) at the Hospice talked about their work and the care and support provided by the unit.
They were also able to share about the impact of corporate fundraising and how this vital support enables St Oswald’s to continue to be there for those in need of palliative care services.
To round off their fabulous fundraising week, a group of 90 staff scaled the heights of Helvellyn.
Led by Dominic Taylor, Senior Delivery Manager at Accenture, the team braved the elements, including a torrential downpour, to climb the 950m high peak.
Despite it being physically challenging, the enthusiasm from those taking part made for an excellent day.
Jill Hackworth, Fundraiser – Corporate at St Oswald’s Hospice, said, “It’s been wonderful to be part of Accenture’s fundraising week and to see the variety of activities available to help fundraise for the hospice. Congratulations to everyone who has taken part and contributed, and a huge well done to everyone who completed the Helvellyn Hike.
“We are all so grateful to you for your generosity and support, every penny makes a difference. Thank you for all that you’ve done.”
In addition to the fundraising week events, the company recently held their annual charity golf day, organised by Tony Peirs, Technology Delivery Lead Specialist at Accenture.
Held at Tynemouth Golf Club, teams from across the North East assembled and had an enjoyable day on the golf course, raising £4437 for St Oswald’s Hospice.
Tony said, “It was a brilliant day and it’s always good to come together in support of our chosen Charity of the Year. There was a great atmosphere and everyone enjoyed their day.”
To date, Accenture has raised around £10,000 as part of their Charity of the Year partnership.
