This has been especially true for Dave Scott and the staff at Accenture. The Newcastle-based company selected St Oswald’s Hospice as their Charity of the Year (COTY) for 2025 and have completed various fundraising initiatives and activities.
Dave, Digital Delivery Engagement Manager at Accenture, explained, “Each year, we select a charity to support and dedicate our efforts to raising funds and awareness for that organisation.
St Oswald’s Hospice has always held a special place in our hearts, with many of our colleagues having a personal connection to the hospice and their incredible work. When we opened the vote for our 2025 charity, St Oswald’s was the clear winner.”
In the last 12 months, staff have taken part in bake off challenges, quizzes and a corporate golf day, as well as more physically demanding challenges including the Great North Run and a Helvellyn hike.
In addition to fundraising activities, team members have taken part in various volunteering opportunities including helping to spruce up the garden spaces at St Oswald’s Hospice and lending a hand at our retail sorting point – the Space – at Ouseburn.
As part of our commitment to Charity of the Year partnerships, two short talks have been delivered at Accenture by a small team from St Oswald’s Hospice. These talks are designed to help people understand more about the Hospice, the care and support services available, and to explain the vital impact of fundraising and corporate support.
“Before this partnership, my perception of a hospice was simply that it was a place where people go to say goodbye. That changed immediately after my first visit to St Oswald’s.
What I discovered was a place full of love and positivity. Seeing the various spaces set up for families and loved ones, including a birthday celebration, I could sense the warmth and care. It reminds you that there are people navigating incredibly difficult times yet the environment offers comfort and dignity.
Seeing first hand the work of the staff, and hearing stories of patients and families, it’s inspiring and humbling. It’s what makes this partnership so meaningful and it’s been transformational for us to be involved in this way.”
Through their COTY partnership, Accenture has raised a total of £26,000 for St Oswald’s Hospice.
Jill Hackworth, Fundraiser – Business Partnerships, said, “We’ve been delighted to work alongside Dave and the team at Accenture. Their enthusiasm and commitment have been great to see and rewarded by the fantastic sum raised for St Oswald’s Hospice.
Congratulations and thank you to everyone at Accenture for their support. It makes a real difference to the patients and families at St Oswald’s, and we’re all so grateful.”
Dave said, “I’m delighted and it’s been an honour to lead this partnership and to play a part in helping to raise such a fantastic amount for St Oswald’s Hospice.”
The company has also signed up to sponsor a sculpture on the upcoming Peter Rabbit: Tales on the Tyne art trail. Hitting the streets of Newcastle in summer 2026, over 50 beautifully decorated Peter Rabbit sculptures will form an iconic trail, raising vital funds and awareness for St Oswald’s Hospice.
Dave added, “I can’t wait to take part in the Art Trail with my daughter and search for our Accenture Peter Rabbit. The whole thing fills me with immense pride and it’s been a privilege to be involved.”
