Fundraising is in full swing as NB&MS hit the fairway - Page 1

If ever there was a company who knows how to put the ‘fun’ into fundraising, it’s the team at NB&MS Building Solutions.

Andy Greenwell and Ray Dees, Directors at NB&MS organised a fantastic day of golf, attended by teams from businesses across the region, followed by an evening of live music and entertainment.

Held at Close House Golf Club, players arrived from 8am and were able to enjoy bacon sandwiches and refreshments together before getting ready to hit the golf course.

Play was Texas Scramble style, with a shot gun start at 9.30am, and various games were set up around the course including Longest Drive, Beat the Pro and Nearest the Pin.

Reflecting on the day, Ray Dees, Director at NB&MS said, “It was a brilliant day from start to finish. The sunshine was on our side, and to be playing on such a  beautiful course with great company was great.

“St Oswald’s Hospice really means a lot to us and to be able to continue supporting them, and the work they do, is a privilege.”

A BBQ style buffet rounded off the golf day in the Westwood Suite, and included a short talk from Sophie Hindhaugh, Senior Fundraiser at St Oswald’s Hospice. Sophie gave an update on various projects at the Hospice and shared the positive impact of corporate support, and how valuable these partnerships and events are in helping to raise awareness and vital funds for St Oswald’s Hospice.

Before the day’s events drew to a close, it was time to crown the winners. A big congratulations to Ray Dees, Andy Dees, Phil McKinlay and Mick Dundee!

The evening event kicked off at 6pm with over 60 people attending. Hosted by Justin Lockwood, the crowd were treated to marvellous musical entertainment from singer Tim Gambles and local band, ELI.

Jill Hackworth, Fundraiser – Corporate at St Oswald’s Hospice, gave a short talk about the Hospice followed by an update on Andy Greenwell’s Cloud 9 challenges.

Andy’s wife, Lisa, then played a short video capturing Andy’s Cloud 9 challenge journey to date.

Jill said, “We’re all so proud of Andy at St Oswald’s Hospice; to take on just one endurance challenge is brilliant but to sign up for 9 is incredible. His support, along with his friends and family, means such a lot to us and we can’t thank Andy enough.”
