Great North Run 2026

Join Team St Oswald’s Hospice for the most famous half-marathon in the world!

Sunday 13th September 2026

The final Great North Run ballot results have now been announced – congratulations if you have secured a place!

If you were unlucky in getting a place, don’t worry! We have a limited number of guaranteed charity places available to run for Team St Oswald’s, meaning your place on the start line can still be a reality.

As part of our St Oswald’s Hospice team of runners, you’ll be joining hundreds of other brilliant people in making a difference to North East families who rely on our services . Your 13.1 miles will help our patients to enjoy trips to the seaside, relax with complementary therapies and spend quality time with their families. It will also support those who have been bereaved, give a hand to hold on the darkest of days and ensure that people are not alone at what might be the toughest time of their lives.

We’d love for you to join our dream team in making a difference in 2026.

Your Fundraising Pledge

Places cost £65 and we ask that you raise a minimum of £300 in sponsorship in support of St Oswald’s Hospice. Your commitment to fundraise is a direct commitment to our patients and families who you will be running for.

The reason that you hitting your fundraising target is so important is that each charity Great North Run place, once you pay your registration fee of £65, still costs the hospice a further £115. These are the costs of the charity package we buy from Great Run. Once you have raised £115, all of the money you make in sponsorship will come directly to the hospice as a donation.

This is why we ask for you to raise a minimum of £300 – to ensure that not only does your fundraising cover our costs but a proportion can be used where it is needed most – helping us to continue to provide vital care and support to local families.

We’ll send you a fundraising pack containing lots of advice and information, a sponsor form and regular email updates to support you. We are always at the end of the phone if you need us. The sooner you sign up, the more time you have to fundraise. Spreading your target over several months takes the pressure off you have much longer to train too!
