Beginning at 8am with breakfast networking, it was a great opportunity to meet with fellow golfers and enjoy plenty of refreshments and bacon sandwiches before heading to the practice green to warm up.
Whilst conditions were windy, the sun came out to play, making for a brilliant day all round.
Similar to previous years, it was Texas Scramble style play across 18 holes with a shotgun start at 10am.
Throughout the course, players had the chance to test their skills at various games including Nearest the Pin, Longest Drive, Hole in One, in addition to trying their luck at our popular Chipping competition.
Charlotte Ball, Fundraising Co-Ordinator, said, “The enthusiasm from all of our players helped to make this day a huge success. The sportsmanship and competitiveness added to the fun and we’re all really grateful to everyone taking part.”
Once play had finished, teams headed back to the Banqueting Suite to enjoy a delicious two course meal and to hear more the work of St Oswald’s Hospice, and the impact of fundraising through events like these.
Keir Waugh, whose daughters Willow and Everly receive bereavement support at St Oswald’s Hospice, shared about the impact of this support and the difference it has made to his family.
“Thanks to the love, support and care my girls get from the team at the Hospice, they’ve been able to rebuild their lives.”
He added, “It’s not until you’re faced with this sort of situation that you realise just how vital this service is. In those moments, nobody will be able to help you like they can.”
Before the day drew to a close, there was time for a short prize auction, led by the wonderful Alfie Joey, and of course, the announcement of our winners!
