A blooming beautiful day at Blagdon Estate Gardens

Last Sunday, Lord and Lady Ridley opened wide the gates of their gorgeous gardens at the Blagdon Estate in support of St Oswald’s Hospice.

Nestled in the Northumberland countryside, this special event attracted 1300 people from across the region who were able to enjoy 27 acres of unique garden space including canals, woodland walks and various ornamental tree and floral displays.

Throughout the day, live music filled the air from a selection of performers including Northumbria Pipe group Robson’s Choice, Not Your Average Joe, Bangshees and the St Oswald’s Hospice very own Singing Group.

As well as soaking up the lovely surroundings, attendees were able to peruse a selection of stalls offering a variety of local produce and items.

Visitors were also treated to an excellent display of classic cars and scooters bringing a touch of nostalgia to the event, courtesy of Tynemouth Mini Club, North East Scooter Club and independent vintage TVR owners.

Despite the mixed weather, the event was a resounding success with over £15,000 being raised for St Oswald’s Hospice.

Danielle Harvey, Fundraising Manager – Community at St Oswald’s Hospice said, “We’re delighted to have had such a fantastic turn out at Blagdon and to have raised this amount to help support the work of St Oswald’s Hospice.

Thank you to everyone who came along on the day, for their generosity and support, and especially to Lord and Lady Ridley for opening their stunning gardens for this event.”

All of us at St Oswald’s Hospice would like to extend a huge thank you to all of our volunteers for giving their time, along with our staff, helped ensure the smooth and efficient running of the event.

We’d also like to thank the vintage vehicle owners and the stall holders on the day including Craft Sensations, Jesmond Ice Cream Company, Nature in Wire, Alison Hall Photography, Seashore Art, The Urban Cottage Company, and Pawsitively Unique Pet Products (PUPP) for helping to make this event a success.
