Children and Young Adult's Service

Who We Are

St Oswald’s provides specialist short breaks to children and young adults with progressive, life shortening conditions.

Families from across the region – Northumberland, Tyne & Wear and North Durham – access the specialist services and enjoy the friendly ‘home from home’ environment at St Oswald’s.

We offer a 24 hour, seven days a week service, supported by a team of skilled staff who can meet the complex health, emotional and social needs of the children, young adults and their families.

Our purpose built facility provides accommodation for up to six children and young adults and their families at any one time. On average, fifty children and young adults are able to benefit from our services every month.

Our ‘home from home’ environment offers families the choice to either have a break together or the child or young adult can stay on their own with us.

Children from birth to eighteen are able to stay at our unit. Young adults aged 18- 25 are now able to use our services, click here to find out more about our Young Adult's Service.
