A very generous holiday allowance and unlike many other retailers, you won’t have to work over the Christmas/New Year period, Easter or Bank Holidays.

St Oswald’s Hospice are looking for a new positive team member to join our wonderful charity in our Retail Logistics department. It is essential that you drive but we want to make it clear this job is way more than just driving goods around the North East. It is people focused, extremely physical and very varied.

The role as Logistics Crew Member means you are a vital link between stock donation and our shops. You will be a Hospice Champion to our Supporters and local community.

Could you be part of our welcoming team?

Do you have a positive attitude, and a willingness to ‘get stuck in’ and learn. Are you someone who likes to be busy and productive?

Lifting, shifting and sorting items to re-sell is a must. We hate waste at the Hospice (we are a charity!) so our donated items wherever possible, will be re-sold on by your retail colleagues through our shops and online. This helps us to raise vital money towards providing care and support for patients and families in your local community.

For this role, you will:

  • Have a clean driving license, be able to drive Hospice vehicles up to 3.5 tonne and be aged 21 or over to meet our insurance requirements.
  • Have held a full driving licence for at least 2 years.
  • Have basic secondary education but no formal qualifications needed.
  • Be able to use a PC and have some basic digital skills to look at and reply to email for example.
  • Be physically able to undertake the full activities of the role.

We’re all for using AI to help us be more efficient in our roles, however, when it comes to job applications, we want to hear your voice, your ideas, your skills and experiences. If you’re thinking about using AI to help with your application, please take a moment to consider how well it reflects the real you.

We’re keen to hear your story, in your own words, so please don’t be afraid to let your individuality come through.

During your recruitment process we want to make sure that you bring your whole self and can be at your best. Please contact humanresources@stoswaldsuk.org if you need any support with your application or there are any adjustments you might need.

Due to the nature of this role in a hospice setting, we need to carry out an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check (DBS) if you are appointed.

You must have existing right to work in the UK for this role.

Want to find out more about why working in a Hospice could be the best job you’ve ever had?

Hospice UK have put together this short video which highlights many benefits of working in a Hospice by sharing the views of hospice professionals and what working in a hospice means to them. This video has been filmed with clinical care team members but we think it gives you a great idea what it’s like to work in a hospice in a non-clinical role too!

Closing Date: Tuesday 3rd March 2026
