Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge

In support of St Oswald’s Hospice

Saturday 22nd June 2024

Fancy climbing the highest peaks in Yorkshire in just 12 hours? Why not take on the beautiful Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge to do something brilliant, make memories and raise funds for St Oswald’s Hospice.

The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge is without a doubt one of the most rewarding challenges in the UK. Starting and ending in Horton-in-Ribblesdale, you take in three of the best known peaks in Yorkshire; Pen-y-Ghent (694m), Whernside (736m) and Ingleborough (723m). You can take part as an individual and join our team or get together with friends, family and colleagues.

Lead by challenge provider Orange John and his qualified, insured and first aid trained guides, you’ll ascend over 7,064ft and walk the classic 24-mile circular route in 12 hours! A challenging event but achievable by anyone with a reasonable level of fitness and a desire to succeed. Training is advised.

Best of all, by taking part and challenging yourself, you’ll be helping to support the families who we care for at St Oswald’s Hospice.

Registration to take part costs just £65 per participant and there is no set fundraising target. All we ask is that you try and raise as much sponsorship as possible in support the work of the hospice and those we care for.

Please take advice from your doctor or GP. That very much depends on what the medical condition is. Whether or not you can participate is also at the discretion of your guide, so please get in touch to discuss things further!

No – there are a few rocky steps here and there but nothing that would be classed as “rock climbing” and nothing that would require harnesses or similar equipment.

Absolutely. The terrain is rocky and slippery when wet. Walking boots with firm ankle support are a necessity for you to safely undertake either of these walking challenges. Without the appropriate footwear, you may be refused participation.

We suggest any kind of cardiovascular and endurance activity, such as walking, running, swimming, cycling and other such activities. The fitter you are, the more enjoyment you’ll gain from the challenge.

Registration costs just £65 per person and there is no minimum fundraising target for this challenge. All we ask is that you aim to raise as much as possible through sponsorship, all of which will support the families who rely on the care of St Oswald’s Hospice.

By taking part in this challenge and raising funds for St Oswald’s Hospice, you will be supporting our work with North East adults, children and babies. All of our services are free of charge, so you taking part in challenges like this allows us to keep our doors and hearts open for those who need us. Thank you.
