We had a huge response from you all and each week, a winner was chosen by a member of our team

Weekly winners included Iggy the long haired guinea pig, Bobby Brown the terrier and puppies Bear and Fudge, who all received goodies kindly donated by Pethical UK.

The most coveted prize of all was of course the Best in Show title, and we called upon some special guests to make this difficult decision. Hospice therapy dog, Harley and his human Julie took on the tough task and spent a considerable amount of time scrolling through the entries online. In the end, they both agreed there could only be one winner… George, the 15 month old Pomeranian from Gateshead! Our judges told us that George’s smiley face caught their attention and in turn, made them feel happy too.

Gorgeous George has won a prize package worth over £500 including treats from Pethical UK and a professional photo shoot and printed canvas from Duo Photo Studio. We caught up with George and his owner Julie to give him his Best in Show certificate and prizes.

Julie said:

“We were delighted when we heard that George had won. St Oswald’s are a charity close to my heart as a loved one passed away there and I used their bereavement support services myself. I always try to support their events and campaigns, and as the owner of three beautiful Pomeranian boys, I knew I had to make a donation and enter them into the Pet Show.

I am not surprised that the judges picked up on George’s smile, as it’s what he’s well known for where we live in Gateshead. When he comes out to play, all the children in our street run over and he greets them all. He’s always so friendly and happy and cheers everyone up, although he’s a bit of a handful at times so we call him ‘Crazy George!’

His brothers, Teddy and Charly were also entered into the competition but they are only a little bit jealous of all the attention George is getting! They will enjoy sharing George’s prize with him and basking in the glory of having a famous younger sibling.”

Congratulations to George, we think he’s a very worthy winner. Thank you to everyone who entered their pets, raising over £500 for St Oswald’s Hospice and bringing a little joy to us all.
