Morrisons partnership with Together for short Lives will benefit North East families

Together for Short Lives is the only charity supporting the UK’s children’s hospices, including St Oswald’s, and after winning a staff vote, has teamed up with Morrisons to raise vital funds for children’s hospices across the country.

St Oswald’s Hospice Director of Care Services, Angela Egdell said:

We are delighted to hear news that Together for Short Lives have partnered with Morrisons to raise funds for and awareness of Children’s Hospices like ours. At a time when fundraising has never been more challenging, partnerships like this give us hope and confidence that we can continue to offer vital services to the families of the North East. We are excited to work alongside both organisations on this fantastic three year partnership.”

The partnership will directly benefit families like 6 year old Erin’s, who have been supported by our children’s service.

Erin’s mum, Emma Reed said:

“It isn’t just Erin who benefits from her stays, the whole family gets a lot out of her short breaks. While Erin is at the Hospice we can recharge our batteries and spend time with our other daughter Scarlett, who often comes second to her sister’s complex needs. It’s always difficult to leave Erin, even though I trust the staff implicitly.

“The team are absolutely lovely, kind and caring, which helps to put me at ease. The Hospice definitely isn’t what we first imagined, it’s very different to a hospital and it’s really homely. The staff are always there to provide a listening ear and I can’t thank them enough for all they’ve done for our family, they’re all wonderful.”

Every Morrisons store is calling on local shoppers to join them for their special ‘Butterfly Bonanza’ between 14-27 February – a fabulous fortnight of fundraising activities to mark the launch of the partnership, as the charity’s famous butterfly flies up and down the country in support of seriously ill children.

Our fundraising team are already working with Morrisons community champions at our twinned stores across the region to plan lots of exciting ways to maximise this partnership and raise much-needed funds. Keep an eye out on our website, social media pages and fortnightly supporter newsletters (please email enquiries@stoswaldsuk.org if you wish to be added to the list to receive these) or see noticeboards in your local Morrisons store for updates.

Thank you to all of the Morrisons colleagues who gave Together for Short Lives their vote, allowing us the chance to work with them on this special partnership on behalf of our patients and families.
