Laura Barrett now fully trained Bereavement Facilitator for Hospice UK

This is a fantastic achievement for Laura and St Oswald’s Hospice, as she can now deliver bereavement training sessions as part of Hospice UK’s Compassionate Employers training programme. This programme offers practical guidance and support to companies to help them manage bereavement in the workplace and support staff back to work following a death.

Hospice UK is the national charity for hospice and end-of-life care. They work to ensure everyone affected by death, dying and bereavement gets the care and support they need, when they need it.

Talking about her achievement, Laura said:

“It’s certainly been a steep learning curve coming from a fundraising background to the bereavement team! I spoke to a lot of donors in my previous role as Senior Fundraiser and we often discussed grief and I saw first-hand how much those conversations mattered to people and I wanted to be a part of that.

“Working with Hospice UK will allow me to support businesses and organisations such as national banks, residential care providers and financial services as they navigate grief and bereavement. It will help to open up the conversation around this topic and give those employees a safe space to share their thoughts and feelings.”

Well done Laura from everyone at St Oswald’s Hospice! Another fabulous feather to add to your cap!
