Meet Lauren and Kerry

This Hospice Care Week, we’re celebrating the people who make St Oswald’s Hospice what it is.

Meet Lauren and Kerry, our Children and Young Adult’s Service Activities Coordinators.

What attracted you to St Oswald’s Hospice?

Lauren: It’s always been my passion to work with children with complex needs. When I saw the job at St Oswald’s Hospice, I knew it would offer incredible experiences and meaningful things.

What does your role involve?

Kerry: Our role involves planning trips and events such as Christmas parties and doing activities in the hospice. We always look at the way children and young adults are developing and create specific activities that are best for each individual.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

Lauren: Being able to liaise with multidisciplinary teams and implementing strategies that support the children and young adults. When you see them happier, more comfortable and feeling safe, that’s what I really love.

Kerry: I enjoy supporting the families too, especially the siblings. We run sibling and young adult events and we love spoiling them.

How would you describe Hospice Care?

Lauren: People’s perceptions of hospice care is probably very different to us. It’s holistic and about putting the children and the family at the heart of everything we do.

Thank you to everyone who has supported Hospice Care Week this year!
