Miller Miles in March give boost to St Oswald’s Hospice
North East colleagues from national house builder Miller Homes teamed up to take on as many miles as they could in March to raise funds for St Oswald’s Hospice
As a way to promote fitness, enhance wellbeing and support local good causes, Miller Homes set a charity challenge to staff across all their regions, encouraging them to cover as much distance as possible on foot in March. The company pledged to donate £1 for each mile competed, to the team’s chosen charities..
The North East team ran a poll to choose the charity that would benefit from their miles with St Oswald’s being selected. Trudy Alexander, Receptionist & Administrator at Miller Homes North East took charge of keeping count of the miles, with her team members registering their progress with her weekly. Trudy said:
“The whole team got behind the challenge and I made sure I kept an eye on every mile completed! I walked daily on the beach in Newbiggin with my dog Monty and our Managing Director in the North East, Patrick Arkle, got involved, walking from Warkworth to Alnmouth.
By the time the challenge finished at the end of March, we were delighted that Miller Homes North East had raised a total of £3310 and also came top of the leader board regionally, an excellent result for everyone! We will continue to support St Oswald’s Hospice and are already planning some more events later this year!”
We were delighted to hear the news that, as well as their generous donation, Miller Homes team have decided to become a member of St Oswald’s Better Together Business Club, which aims to fund two hospice nurses each year. You can find out more about our Business Club here.
Thank you to everyone at Miller Homes for taking on a terrific challenge and congratulations to the North East team for clocking up the most miles. We look forward to working with them in the future, as the newest members of our Business Club.
