What you need to know

  • The Big Hike takes place on Sunday 25th May 2025
  • The meeting Point: is Walltown Visitor Centre, Walltown Quarry, Greenhead, Brampton CA8 7HF. You will be required to make your own way to the meeting point, where parking is available
  • The walk will finish at Housesteads Visitor Centre, where transport will be provided back to Walltown to collect your car.
  • Hikers should be aged 10+. Those under 18 must walk with an accompanying adult
  • Well behaved dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead at all times
  • The linear route will take you through Northumberland National Park along the official Hadrian’s Wall path. The terrain will vary through farmland, footpaths and road. The route is undulating with some steep accents and descents throughout, including the highest point of Hadrian’s Wall – Winshield Crag 1,132ft/345m. You will hike up and down multiple crags which can be boggy in areas
  • Your aim is to complete the challenge in under 8 hours, which includes comfort and refreshment breaks

Your fundraising target

This challenge has a suggested fundraising target of £150 per hiker. Your £35 registration fee covers all of our event costs, but we ask that you aim to fundraise £150 which will go directly towards care for the adults and children who rely on our services and general running costs.
