Referrals to Adult services
Who can refer?
We accept referrals from General Practitioners, Consultants, or other healthcare professionals in consultation with a patient’s Doctor.
Adult patients from Newcastle, North Tyneside, Northumberland and Gateshead can be referred to us.
Our core palliative services include: an inpatient service, day hospice, outpatient consultant clinics, complementary therapy, ‘Positive Steps’, cognitive behavioural therapy, acupuncture, hypnotherapy and lymphoedema management.
We also provide a Lymphoedema Service to non-palliative care patients.
How to refer
Referrals can be made by telephone, post or email.
Emergency referrals onto our inpatient unit will be discussed by the Nurse-in-Charge and senior member of our medical team and a decision communicated back to the referrer within one hour.

Telephone referrals will normally be received by the Medical Secretaries.
