Host an event

Throughout the year, our fundraising team organise a range of events that you and your colleagues can get involved with. We’ve done everything from powdered paint 5k’s to elephant parades (yes, really!) and we are always up for trying new things. But if nothing takes your fancy, or you want to create something unique to your own brand and people, have you considered organising an event of your own with St Oswald’s Hospice as your partner and beneficiary charity? As well as raising funds for the hospice, there are benefits for your own organisation too.

Our top 5 reasons to host a corporate event with a charity partner

Cost neutral – you just do some fundraising during the event, such as raffles, sweepstakes, auctions etc.
You might save money– ask your suppliers to reduce costs because it’s for charity
It gives people another reason to come – fun and frivolity with a purpose, not just a day/night out, but putting something back
Widen your networks and meet new people – ask the charity to invite some of its corporate supporters along
Associate your brand with a cause which means something to your staff and customers

Go big with a bash to remember

Everyone loves a party, right? And what better way to bring people together than a right good knees up. Whether it’s a corporate ball, a summer garden party or a quiz night, why not get your people together to do something special for St Oswald’s?

Our friends at Big Purple Productions dazzled everyone who attended their 2019 Rainforest Ball with an unforgettable evening of entertainment. As a leading North East AV company, Big Purple had the perfect skill set to throw a spectacular party, and it was not only an opportunity to showcase their talents and latest equipment, it also offered an exciting way for them to continue their support of St Oswald’s. After teaming up with Dandy Events, who made sure the room looked stunning, Eddie, Sam and Raych from Big Purple invited clients and friends to join them for a night of entertainment, glamour and of course, fundraising. A great night was had by all, with over £5,000 raised for our patients and families. A big (purple) thank you to the team who organised such a fantastic event.

North East property Rugby Festival

Since 2017, property professionals from across the North East and Scotland have joined forces to organise The North East Property Rugby FestivalIn 2019the festival was organised by local property consultancies, Knight Frank, Silverstone Building Consultancy and Greggs and held at Northern Rugby Club in Gosforth. As well as a proven fundraiser, the festival quickly established itself as a major networking event for North East surveyors, lawyers, architects and a range of construction professionals. Although beneficial to the property consultancies profession, the main aim of the day was to have fun and to raise money for the Hospice. The day was a  huge success, raising £8,000 towards children’s mobile sensory equipment, to add to the overall total of £25,000 for St Oswald’s patients and families.

Northern Bear Charity Golf Tournament

Northern Bear have been long-time supporters of St Oswald’s and their golf days have always proven to be popular. In 2019 a total of 80 golfers took part in teams of four, representing companies from the Northern Bear group and its clients and suppliers. Held at Ramside Hall, Durham, the third annual Gold Day raised a record £11,125 for St Oswald’s Hospice

At the event, a parent of one of the young people who uses our children’s service spoke about the impact the hospice had on his family’s life, and how the money raised will make a huge difference to his own son and other young people like him.

The relationship between Northern Bear and St Oswald’s started in 2016 when the company chose the hospice as its local ‘charity of choice’ to help commemorate a decade of trading on the Alternative Investment Market of the London Stock Exchange. The company have since gone on to sponsor our 2020 ‘Leap Year Ball’.
