On admission to our Inpatient Service, many patients say ‘I wish we’d found you earlier.
We know that patients can feel scared about their illness, about their future and what a hospice is going to be like. Many think it’s just a place to die. While we do provide end of life care, we also offer so much more than that. Our 15 bed inpatient unit is for patients needing pain and symptom control, emergency respite and end of life care.
We strive to reassure patients: to listen to them, to understand them, to support them and to provide the very best care we can, so that they feel they are in safe, expert hands. Our multi-disciplinary team work together and strive to address not just a patient’s physical needs, but their emotional and spiritual needs too. Our team includes consultants, doctors, nurses, physios, occupational therapists, social workers, chaplaincy and complementary therapists.
We also understand the impact an illness has on the whole family and offer support for carers. Patients can be referred to us by their GP, Consultant or Specialist Palliative Care Team.
