Our retail team is taking the streets of Gateshead next week (Monday 13 March) to share the wide range of volunteering opportunities available to local residents.
We’ll be popping up at Trinity Square in the town centre for the day to showcase how a retail volunteering role can offer a huge amount of benefits to those taking up the challenge.
Whether you want to gain new transferable skills, confidence and valuable experience, or make new friends, become more active and simply have fun, there’s something for everyone. All ages and abilities are welcome to join our friendly teams, plus there’s even the chance to complete a NVQ qualification to boost your retail CV.
Current retail volunteer vacancies include positions at our Gateshead shop, just a stone’s throw away from Trinity Square. Following a recent refurbishment, the new-look Jackson Street store is seeking volunteer Stock Processors.
Woking right in the heart of the retail function, Stock Processors help to prepare items for sale. Tasks include taking deliveries of donations, organising stock and getting goods ready for the shop floor. This can include steaming clothing, pricing and tagging items as well as researching brands, often revealing hidden treasures and interesting finds!
Across the water, in Newcastle city centre, volunteer Stock Processor roles are also available at our Central Sort facility. Based at our innovative Buy the Bag shop, this busy hub is responsible for providing the stock for all 28 St Oswald’s shops spread across the region. Its fast-paced environment means there’s always something to get stuck into, and the role comes with a physical challenge to keep you on your toes!
We also have opportunities to help out at our specialist stores and boutiques if you’d like to try something completely different, and all vacancies are flexible to fit volunteering around your life. Whether you have a spare hour, day, or more a week, you’ll be able to choose your own days and hours to lend a hand and shape your skills.
If you’d like to come along to Trinity Square to learn about our range of retail roles and what you can get out of being involved, come see us between 9.30am – 3pm at the outdoor square for a friendly chat - we’d love to meet you!
Eager beavers can sign up for a taster session there and then, so a retail volunteering role with St Oswald’s can be yours sooner than you might think.
If can’t make it to the Trinity Square pop up event but are interesting in finding out more, you can always get in touch via our Retail Helpdesk: E: firstname.lastname@example.org, T: 0191 246 9071.
There’ll be more chances to meet the team coming soon too, as our retail and fundraising teams join forces to pop up at Eldon Square on Friday 31 March, from 10am -2pm, and at the Metrocentre on Friday 7 – Saturday 8 April between 10am – 5pm.
We hope to see you there!
