Juliette Taylor, a schoolgirl from Ponteland who was recently named St Oswald’s Young Fundraiser of the Year, is about to compete in the Royal International Miss Pageant in America.
The competition celebrates and rewards the work that the contestants have achieved throughout the year with a selection of themed dinners and parties, courses for the participants to attend and awards which will be handed out towards the end of the week.
Juliette was guaranteed a place in the international contest after enjoying success in the Junior Teen category at the UK version of the same competition, Royal UK Miss, last July. Juliette will be jetting off to Orlando, Florida with her mother and grandmother on the 7th of July to compete in the pageant.
What I love about this contest is how we are encouraged to support charities and become role models for other young women. It isn’t just a normal pageant and there is a strong focus on leadership, compassion and charity work. I have long supported St Oswald’s and have helped my dad, Dave Taylor a chef at the Hospice, with all of his fundraising endeavours. St Oswald’s is a truly fantastic charity and I am so proud to be able to support and promote it.
Juliette’s mum, Jill Taylor, added:
Juliette has always been proactive when it comes to fundraising and has completed all sorts of challenges including bake sales, organising her own charity calendar, and donating some of her hair to help make wigs for young children with cancer. I couldn’t be more proud of Juliette and her fantastic fundraising achievements and we’re going to be keeping everything crossed that she does well in America. The experience up until now has been phenomenal but winning the international title would be the icing on the cake.
Danielle Callender, Community Fundraiser at St Oswald’s, said:
Juliette has been a fantastic ambassador for St Oswald’s and together with her father Dave, has raised a huge amount for St Oswald’s. To be of such a young age and to be as dedicated and as enthusiastic about fundraising as Juliette is, truly inspires us. As St Oswald’s relies upon raising an additional £7million each year in order to continue to provide the high quality of care that we do, we’re extremely thankful to all of our fantastic and committed fundraisers including Juliette. We wish her all the luck in the world at her pageant in America.
