St Oswald's desperately needs new volunteers to fill crucial volunteering vacancies at our Central Sorting Centre in Walkergate, Newcastle and in our Warehouse on the Airport Industrial Estate, Kingston Park.
The Central Sorting Centre is responsible for organising and distributing all donated stock to our 26 charity shops located across the North East, whilst the Kingston Park Warehouse is one of St Oswald’s busiest retail outlets.
Without the support of volunteers, opening times in St Oswald’s 26 shops may be restricted, with shops even forced to close affecting how much money St Oswald’s can raise.
Susan Freeman, Retail Area Manager at St Oswald’s, said:
St Oswald’s needs to raise £7.5 million each year in order to continue providing high quality care to North East families. If we don’t have sufficient numbers of volunteers supporting our 26 shops, then the amount of money we can raise is detrimentally affected. As such, volunteers play an absolutely critical role at St Oswald’s and are the lifeblood of the hospice.
Here at St Oswald’s, we like to relay the ‘little and often’ message. This means that we are so grateful for even a few hours of help; you wouldn’t believe the enormous difference that a few hours of volunteering on a regular basis can make to St Oswald’s! Not only would volunteers play a key role at St Oswald's and in their local community, they will also reap all the rewards that volunteering brings! There are opportunities to learn new skills, spruce up your CV, socialise, meet new friends and even gain qualifications with us! If this sounds like something of interest to you, then please get in touch!
