Our friends at Northern Bear are celebrating after raising £6,000 for St Oswald’s in their latest golfing challenge, bringing the company’s overall fundraising total in excess of £20,000!
Northern Bear, who chose St Oswald’s as their ‘charity of choice’ last year, rallied their staff and clients to battle the elements in their latest fundraising event. A hardy group of golfers defied atrocious North East ‘summer’ weather to slice their way around the Cathedral Course at Ramside Hall to help raise the impressive total.
Over the past 12 months the North East construction company have organised a series of fundraising events and sold raffle tickets to cement the final total.
Graham Jennings, Managing Director of Northern Bear plc, commented:
Since supporting St Oswald’s Hospice, we’ve learnt so much about their work and developed a huge respect for the work they do and the way they do it. Northern Bear takes its responsibilities to local communities very seriously, there can be few more satisfying and productive ways than interacting with such an organisation to make a contribution that counts. We have visited the Hospice on a number of occasions and recently had the pleasure of watching a music therapy session for children and young adults who are cared for at the Hospice. We are humbled by the nature of the love and care that is offered at such difficult times in people’s lives. We hope to continue our involvement over the coming year.
Danielle Callender, Community Fundraiser at St Oswald’s Hospice, said:
We’re delighted Northern Bear have chosen us as their local ‘charity of choice’, they’ve done some incredible fundraising for us this year. Their hard work and dedication to raise money has seen them far exceed the targets they set. By completing raffles and golfing challenges Northern Bear have managed to raise an incredible £20,000. As St Oswald’s needs to raise over £7 million through voluntary giving each year to continue to provide high quality care to patients and their families, the fantastic support we’ve enjoyed from Northern Bear over the past 12 months is extremely welcome.
