This week, employees from Lloyds Bank in Cramlington raised over £1,400 for us during a recent shop takeover day in our Gosforth shop.
The Shop Takeover Challenge puts teams of colleagues through their paces by allowing them to ‘takeover’ one of our 27 region-wide charity shops for a day with the challenge of hitting a fundraising target. The team are required to manage stock, sell to customers and design window displays to entice customers into the store. The team threw themselves into all aspects of shop work and agreed to match the funds they raised to give an expected total of £2,800.
Dale Wighton, Bank Manager at Lloyds Cramlington branch, said:
We chose to support St Oswald’s as it is a fantastic local charity and provides excellent care to patients. The husband of one of our colleagues is currently receiving treatment at the Hospice so we were committed to supporting the fantastic work they do. The entire team had a brilliant day supporting St Oswald’s and we all came away incredibly positive. Our perceptions of charity shops changed and all of us have said we will definitely be shopping a lot more in St Oswald’s shops! We were incredibly pleased that our hard work and enthusiasm helped us to smash our fundraising target!
Katy Taberham, Senior Fundraiser at St Oswald’s said:
We were delighted to be joined by Lloyds Bank in our Gosforth shop. The entire team rolled up their sleeves and got stuck in and made a huge contribution. The team had a fundraising target of £500, which they massively exceeded. We were so proud of Lloyds and really enjoyed working with them. As Lloyds have agreed to match the money raised on the day, the final total is expected to exceed £2,800. We’re looking forward to continuing to work with Lloyds in the future.
