It was an evening of celebration for some of our incredible supporters at our Life List Awards on Thursday 8th February.
Supporters were invited to the Crown Plaza Hotel in Newcastle to a ceremony hosted by our Hospice Chaplain, Davina Radford, to celebrate the fundraising accomplishments of our supporters throughout 2017.
After thanking everyone for the incredible efforts and achievements in aid of the Hospice, Davina presented attendees with their hard earned certificates and medals. Challenges completed in 2017 included; Festival of Cycling, Skydive, Hadrian’s Wall Challenge, Ponteland Wheelbarrow Race and the Great North Run. Trophies were also awards to some supporters who went over and above their fundraising targets.
Steve Earl from Ashington, was present at the evening and gave a very heart-warming talk about how he supports the Hospice in memory of his wife Tara, his experience in taking on the China Trek and his journey through fundraising and completing the challenge itself.
I know it might sound strange but some of the times we had at St Oswald’s were the happiest times we ever had. I’ve got photo frames all over my house showing all the adventures I’ve been on with all the groups and new friends I’ve made along the way. I’ve signed up for the Sahara Trek this year and I can’t wait. If you are thinking about it, just do it. You regret not what you do, but what you don’t do.
Our Life List comprises a range of sponsored challenges, big and small, which people can sign up to whilst raising money for the Hospice. Although we have an extensive list of challenges for supporters to take part in, we also encourage supporters to raise money by undertaking their own Life List challenges, such as Laura Adamson, who won the ‘Most Innovative Achievement Award’ on the evening by completing a solo cycle challenge from Newcastle to Poitiers in France.
It was great to have our friends at Pure Gym to come along to the evening and sponsor our event. Thank you for your support.
A huge well done and thank you to everyone who has took part in the Life List for us in 2017 – you’ve all done something amazing!
