Brother and Sister are running for Grandad

Sporty brother and sister duo, Evan 11 & Lois 7 from Bedlington, Northumberland are running this year’s Mini and Junior Great North Run for St Oswald’s Hospice.

Lois said:

I’m very excited for the run. When our grandad was in St Oswald’s, we told him that we were going to do this for him and for other people who needed help like he did. He said he was so proud of us that day. He really couldn’t believe how lucky he was to be in a place like the Hospice and to be looked after by such lovely caring people.

Evan added:

Lois and I both play football so do lots of running every week so we should be fine. We also did the K5K colour run for St Oswald’s a few years ago and we loved it! Our grandma was also looked after in December 2010 at St Oswald’s and spent her final days there, so the hospice is a really special place for our whole family and we owe it such a lot.

We would like to say thank you to all the staff and the nurses. You all do such a brilliant job looking after and giving love and care to patients and their families. It is a happy place to be at such a sad time.

This year Evan will be running the 4K Junior Great North Run with his family cheering from the side-lines, and Lois will be doing the 1.5K race with her dad, Michael. If you’d like to support the children visit their JustGiving page here: www.justgiving.com/Sarah-Beattie13
