What is a legacy?

A legacy is a gift to a charity, organisation or person in your Will.

- Anyone can leave a gift to charity in their Will

- A legacy of any size makes a difference

- Support when you are able and ready

- Valuable investment in your local Hospice without monthly commitments

- Opportunity to save on inheritance tax

Your Will is one of the most important documents that you'll make in your lifetime. It will contain your wishes about where your assets will go and who you would like to help when you are gone.

Dying intestate - or without a Will - means the government decides the order of who gets what from your estate, regardless of what you would have wanted. Writing your Will can offer peace of mind that your wishes will be carried out and that you'll leave a lasting legacy to the people or causes most important to you.

For most, family and loved ones will be the most important consideration when making a Will. However many people also choose to remember a favourite charity, perhaps supporting them in a way which was not possible during their lifetime.

Legacy gifts are a vital source of funding for us and make up one third of the donations we need to continue providing services free of charge to our community.

Every gift, no matter how small or large will make a difference.

Find out how to make your Will with our step-by-step guide, hear about our promise to you as a legacy pledger and discover what your gift can help us to do for local families for years to come.
