Losing someone close to you is never easy
There is lots to organise and think about at a time where you are grieving. Right now, because of Covid-19 restrictions, saying goodbye is even more difficult, as you might not be able to plan a funeral in the way you imagined. While you may not be able to get together with you friends and family to celebrate your loved one's life in the traditional way, we wanted to let you know of some other options which might help honour their memory right now.
MuchLoved memorial service
The MuchLoved memorial service is a place where you can create an online community to remember and celebrate the life of someone special, with those who knew and loved them.
On this website, you can set up free tribute pages, send funeral notices for those who cannot attend in person and add photos and memories to include everyone who would have wanted to be there but can’t. It gives you a place to unite as one, when being together in person isn’t an option. Through the MuchLoved website, you can create a legacy in your loved one’s name by choosing a charity close to their heart, so that guests can make in memory donations. This will display on their online tribute page for visitors to see.
Support to cope with bereavement and advice when planning a loved one’s funeral
We have worked with a local funeral director and our Spiritual Care and Bereavement Support Teams to create some downloadable resources about coping with bereavement through the Coronavirus pandemic. You’ll also find advice about planning a loved one’s funeral and how to pay your respects from home, if you are unable to attend in person. We hope you find them useful:

Light a candle for a loved one
As supporters are currently unable to visit our Chapel, to light a candle for a loved one or view their names in our Remembrance Books, our Spiritual Care Team are offering the opportunity to have a candle lit in the Hospice Chapel to remember a loved one at this difficult time.
If you’d like Davina Radford, our Spritual Care Lead, to light a candle on your behalf or take a photograph of a loved ones name please contact us via enquiries@stoswaldsuk.org
Make a donation in memory
By making a donation in their memory you will help us to support other local people and families needing our specialist hospice care. Every gift we receive, no matter how small or large, makes a difference.
Make a donation in memoryFuneral collections
Asking friends and family to make a donation in lieu of flowers or holding a collection at a funeral service is a lovely way to commemorate the life of a loved one and a special way to support our work with families at a difficult time.
