Meet the sparkly new members of our herd.

10 July, 2018

We were delighted to welcome our local business community to a special event at St James’ Park on Tuesday 10th July.

As well as launching St Oswald’s Hospice’s brand new business club, ‘Better Together’ we were proud to introduce guests to the newest members of our herd – Disco Wilbur and the beautiful but as yet unnamed rose gold Elmer.

Around 70 business people gathered at St James’ Park to hear presentations from Northumbrian Water, Tyne and Wear Metro and Durham-based EMG Solicitors. The speakers told of their involvement with Great North Snowdogs and how being part of the trail through sponsoring a sculpture brought a range of benefits to their organisations.

The two new Elmers were covered for the first half of the event to build the suspense with hospice Chief Executive James Ellam, along with Wild in Art Director Charlie Langhorne doing the honours by revealing them to the audience to a round of applause.

Disco Wilbur, created by artist Natalie Guy, is a beautiful mosaic design covered in thousands of small silver mirrored tiles. His ears are black and white which was a perfect fit for the venue – home to Newcastle United’s football team!

The brand new rose gold Elmer has no name at the moment, but Charlie offered the audience a chance to bid to name him or her – and Total Business Group won with the highest offer. Watch this space for a name announcement soon.

During a break, everyone was invited to take a selfie with our Elmers and try out our ‘seaside board’ which went down very well.

Thank you to everyone who attended – we hope you enjoyed meeting our herd.
