About the Learning Programme
Schools and not-for-profit youth groups in Tyne and Wear are invited to be inspired, get imaginative and join the herd by being part of the biggest art event ever to take place across the region.
They can then design and decorate their Elmer which will join the parade for eleven weeks from August 2019 and be displayed in a venue alongside other members of the herd. After the trail, the little Elmer's will be returned to their own school or youth group, where they can either be kept and displayed, or auctioned to raise funds for St Oswald's Children's Hospice.
In addition to the sculpture itself, groups will receive a free Elmer big book and a learning programme resource pack linked to the curriculum as well as access to a range of fun and educational ways to fundraise for the Hospice.
In summer 2019, in addition the large Elmer sculptures that will be parading around the region, the North East will also become a playground for a whole herd of little Elmers keen to join in too!
