Call for Elmer artists is NOW OPEN!

We are calling on the creativity and talent of artists and designers to help us bring the herd to life!

In Summer 2019, Tyne and Wear will host a trail of 70 individually designed Elmer elephants.

You don’t have to be a well-known artist to submit a design for consideration. Those as yet undiscovered, particularly those living in working in Tyne and Wear, are encouraged to take part too, you never know, this could be the start of something big! The popularity of these events ensures that your talent is showcased to a  mass audience. Research commissioned for Great North Snowdogs in 2016 showed that the trail attracted an audience of over 600,000 people, and the use of social media to follow and celebrate the trail was huge.

These events also generate exceptional media coverage, both on and offline. In addition, it will enable you to connect with other artists, businesses and the community. Many of our Great North Snowdog artists reported an increase in enquiries and commissions as a direct result of their involvement. Should your design be commissioned, you will be invited to attend the auction event to see first-hand how your sculpture can raise funds to support St Oswald’s Children’s  Hospice.

Could you be an Elmer's Great North Parade artist?

Who can apply?

We aim to showcase the talent of our region so particularly encourage north east based artists to get involved. We are looking for a wide range of styles, themes and ideas, and you don’t need to be a professional artist to submit. We just ask that you skills are such that you’d be able to transfer the design onto a 3D Elmer sculpture at a standard high enough to sell at auction.
