The Elements

Looking to the beauty of elements - nature, earth, air, water, fire and space, which provide the foundation for our world. At a time when so many of us feel a heightened sense of anxiety we can look at nature to lift our spirits. Whether our lockdown walks are encouraging us to find new paths from our home even for a brief nature fix – the wind across our face, the sun on our skin - can all help to lower stress. The following activities will explore the elements and our interactions with them.

As ever, we want to encourage everyone to share with us any resources or activities that you have found helpful and suggestions or ideas about what might be helpful to you and your family at this time. Please send your ideas and suggestions to Fiona Clark on fionaclark@stoswaldsuk.org and Carole Taylor on caroletaylor@stoswaldsuk.org

Thank you and we hope you find some enjoyment and support from these resources.

Share you photos with us!

We have a dedicated Focus on Living Centre gallery where we would love to display your creations.

Please email your photos over to either Fiona Clark or Carole Taylor and we will add them to the gallery.

Relaxation

Here we have some relaxing resources connected to the Elements. If you are having difficulty sleeping or winding down, playing these in the background can have a remarkable effect. We have also include a link to the Hand M Technique massage demonstrated by Beatrix Veal from St. Michael's Hospice. This technique is a gentle way of touching someone’s hand, taken from a sequence called the M Technique, which aims to trigger a relaxing response in the least invasive way.
