Drastic Plastic - A Mammoth Issue

  • Name: Drastic Plastic - A Mammoth Issue
  • Location: Pets Corner, Jesmond Dene
  • Designed and descorated by: Dame Allan's Junior School and Nursery, Newcastle

Sculpture Description

Our design was inspired by our children’s worries about plastic waste and the impact this is having on the environment. Our impact on the environment is the elephant in the room: man-made waste is a mammoth issue, and our use of plastics is causing extensive damage to ecosystems around the world. Our eco-themed Elmer will be covered in different examples of plastic waste. This ‘mammoth’ will hopefully remind everyone of the need to reduce our plastic ‘hoof print’, or face extinction.
