Sculpture Description

Bethan Laker is a compulsive doodler who typically works with bold, wonky line, collage and print to produce charming, witty and colourful responses to everyday life. Bethan’s illustrations are often recognisable by collaged book pages that are recycled alongside lively colourful typography and wordplay. ‘Holibobs’ is an elephant who makes the best of summer whatever the weather, although she does love sunshine! Holibobs knows she can make this the best summer ever by getting out and about to the park on her bike or scooter, meeting her friends and going to summer fun days, keeping her entertained, outdoors and feeling upbeat. Holibobs is inspired by the children and staff from the Byker community groups; Foundation Futures and Kids Kabin, who worked with Bethan to design Holibobs and discuss the things they’d love to do to make this their ‘Best Summer Ever.’
