Social Workers
There are two Social Workers based at St Oswald’s, who are employed by Newcastle Social Services. They work closely with the other members of the clinical team, to support the patient, their family, carers and friends.
Assessment and arrangement of support services for a safe return home are part of the Social Workers’ role. If necessary, follow-up visits are arranged following discharge to ensure your individual needs are being met.
Our Social Workers can also offer advice on nursing home care, help with claiming benefits and emotional support-not just for a patient but also for their relatives, carers and friends, including bereavement support.
